あやまる牧場には、ミニチュアホースのあまのすけもいます。ミニチュアホースは、アルゼンチンが原産で、体高が80cm以下の馬です。あまのすけは、9歳の男の子で、とても優しくお利口さんです。

Ayamaru Stable also has a miniature horse, Amanosuke. Miniature horses are native to Argentina and are usually less than 80cm tall. Amanosuke is a 9-year-old male who came from Koniya in 2015. He is very gentle and smart.

あやまる牧場のトカラ馬(喜界馬)
【あやまる牧場のトカラ馬(喜界馬)】
あやまる牧場には、3頭のトカラ馬(喜界馬)がいます。ピッコロは、17歳の女の子で、2005年に奄美大島にやってきました。とても頭が良くて、少し怖がりや性格です。
まるは、7歳の女の子、2015年に鹿児島大学からきました。おっとりとした優しい性格です。あやは、6歳の女の子で、2015年に鹿児島大学からきました。元気いっぱいで賢い性格です。

We have three Tokara horses (Kikai horses) in Ayamaru Stable. Piccolo is a 17-year-old female. She came to Amami Oshima island in 2005. She is very smart and a bit shy.
Maru is a 7-year-old female. She was acquired from Kagoshima University in 2015. She is gentle and calm. Aya is a 6-year-old female. She was also acquired from Kagoshima University in 2015 together with Maru. She has much energy and clever.

【トカラ馬(喜界馬)】
日本には現存する8種の在来馬がおり、トカラ馬(喜界馬)はその1種です。奄美大島の隣に、喜界島という島があります。喜界島では、農作業や移動のために、喜界馬が活用されてきました。しかし、軍用の大型種との交配、農作業の機械化や車の普及等によって、絶滅したと思われていました。ところが、1879年に喜界馬はトカラ列島に渡り、交配されずに飼育され続けていました。そして、1952年、トカラ列島で喜界馬が発見され、トカラ馬として、鹿児島県の天然記念物に指定されました。トカラ馬(喜界馬)は、体高120cm、体重200-250kg前後で、黒い毛並みと、蹄鉄の必要ない蹄が特徴です。

Tokara horse (Kikai horse) is one of the eight native horse breeds that are present in Japan. Kikai is a neighbor island to Amami Oshima island. Kikai horses had been used for farming and transportation in the island. They were believed to have become extinct due to crossing with large military breeds, industrialization of agriculture, and motorization. However, in 1879, Kikai horses moved to the Tokara Islands and kept purebred. In 1952, they were found in the Tokara Islands and designated as a natural treasure by Kagoshima Prefecture. Tokara horses (Kikai horses) are 120 cm tall and weigh about 200-250 kgs, and are characterized by black fur and hoofs that do not require horseshoes.

あやまる牧場は、2016年7月、障がい者福祉支援施設「共生園のごろ」の一部として設置されました。トカラ馬(喜界馬)を通して、障がいをお持ちの方や、子供たち、一般の人々の、体と心をケアすることを目的としています。また、トカラ馬(喜界馬)の保護・育成・活用にも取り組んでいます。

Through Tokara horse (Kikai horse), we are aspired to take great care of body and mind of people with different abilities, children, and general public. We also put effort in the preservation, training and utilization of Tokara horses (Kikai horses).
